Considered Alberta’s Most Unique Residential Community, Whispering Pines is a residential golf and lake resort community 35 KM SE of Red Deer. Built around an 18-hole championship golf course, on a 9 KM natural spring fed lake, Whispering Pines offers residents a stress-free, maintenance free lifestyle, in a gated community.
The vision of Bill Carlson (founder of Carlson Mastercraft Boats and DuraDeck). Born and raised in nearby Trochu, Alberta, Bill grew up enjoying all that Pine Lake had to offer. Traveling back to Alberta in 1998 for a Family reunion at Pine Lake, he learned a beautiful piece of property overlooking the Lake with an 18 hole golf course was available. Mr. Carlson immediately seized the opportunity to acquire this property and set out to create Alberta’s most unique residential community; offering numerous amenities and something that would appeal to everyone.
Whispering Pines offers an 18-hole championship golf course including a large Clubhouse overlooking the Lake with fine dining, a sports lounge and outdoor patio. Many additional amenities in the luxurious building include an oversized indoor pool, hot tub, exercise facility, and a peaceful sun deck overlooking the tranquil lake. The resort also offers a 55-slip marina, a private sandy beach, pickle ball court, and beach volleyball, just to name a few.
The Pine Lake Restoration Society
The Pine Lake Restoration Society led an effort to improve lake water quality and in 1998 intalled Alberta’s only hypolimnetic withdrawal system. The Pine Lake hypolimnetic withdrawal system consists of a large pipe, 5,000 feet long and 24 inches in diameter. The pipe withdraws phosphorus-rich water from the bottom (or hypolimnion) of the south basin of the lake. During runoff events, when the lake level rises, nutrient-rich water from the bottom of the lake is drawn up the pipe and released downstream to wetlands along Ghostpine Creek.
Results indicate: phosphorus and chlorophyll have greatly decreased, water transparency has increased, and dissolved oxygen concentrations have improved in the lake. By 2000, chlorophyll alone reached the goal of the restoration program – achieving a natural level of algae productivity.
This system has continued to improve lake quality on an annual basis ever since it’s inception making Pine Lake a fantastic recreational lake for boaters to use every year, all season long.
Whispering Pines Evironmental Commitment
In keeping with this long term pledge to maintain the highest lake and land quality, Whispering Pines installed an A.E.P. small municipal city water system along with a waste treatment plant eliminating all septic tanks and drain fields that contribute to the toxic conditions often found in other Alberta lakes. Whispering Pines has also incorporated a series of ponds registered with A.E.P. to capture ground water, preventing it from entering the lake.
Whispering Pines is now offering residential golf course building lots with great lake views in our 5th and 6th subdivisions, with lots starting from
$110,000. Offering a wide variety of lots, including front and rear walk-outs, you’ll easily find the perfect place for your new home. Considered
